His methods and the work he does are truly from another time and show us a whole other aspect of turning. Awesome stuff.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01885317707812810228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6688442226358931965.post-65605921031795951152010-01-08T18:42:15.398-06:002010-01-08T18:42:15.398-06:00Hey Mike,

The contrast of the bark with the polished and smooth texture of the inside are just gorgeous! Excellent work Mike!

If you continue to contribute wood turning posts to Tom's blog I'll soon start looking for a lathe.

Take care,
LuisLuishttp://dovetailkid.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6688442226358931965.post-15871433436356090732010-01-08T10:18:14.685-06:002010-01-08T10:18:14.685-06:00Yeah, Richard Raffan's stuff is all great. I've also been drawn into the gravitational pull of the lathe and I'm always looking for excuses to turn.

My learning has come from making lots of mistakes and I think you are right -- there's no better way to learn than to just spend lots of time at the lathe. That being said, I've found the Richard Raffan DVD's to be very helpful.

ChrisChristopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03042590412023915722noreply@blogger.com
